Who are these people, and why are they Unstrung?

Unstrung Beadery is the brainchild of Diane Bernath, who's a single mother of two boys, both of whom have ADHD (Attention Defecit-Hyperactivity Disorder), ODD (Oppositional Defiance Disorder), and Conduct Disorder. Completely "unstrung" one day, she tried making a bracelet, just to calm her nerves. This site is the result.

She began researching international vendors of beads, gemstones and findings, and discovered that in order to purchase supplies for her growing addiction, she had to obtain a business licence. "Why not?" she thought, "then I can share my love of beading with the world." She also thought that as the business grew, she could afford to quit work, and be a full time mum to her boys.

"Hang on there," her sister Carol (that's me) said, "If you're going to sell all that stuff, I want you to buy yarns and threads and things for me, too!" My own addictions are crochet, knitting and counted cross stitch. That's the "...and Fibre Craft" part of the story.

Diane has an incredible eye for colour and design in her own jewelry, and I've designed sweaters and doilies, as well as having a stack of drawings and watercolours waiting to be turned into cross stitch patterns.

We love what we do, and want you to love it, too. So we'll be shopping for you, to bring you the best of what we find, at the very best prices that we can offer, as well as original designs and kits for your enjoyment.
